Here at Natural Sleep Mattress & Organic Bedding, we frequently tout the importance of sleep. Today, we thought we’d let Mikaela Shiffrin make the case for us!
If you followed any of the action at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, you will undoubtedly recognize Shiffrin’s name. She is one of only two American skiers to bring home medals from the games, earning gold in giant slalom and silver in the Alpine combined competition. (The legendary Lindsey Vonn won the bronze medal in the women’s downhill competition.)
Even if you didn’t watch much – or any – of the Olympics, you’ve probably heard of Shiffrin. Her name and image were featured in several ads revolving around the Olympics and featuring Olympic athletes. She was also featured in many of the promos for NBC’s coverage of the games.
In the lead up to the winter games, Kevin Loria did a great piece on her for BusinessInsider.com http://www.businessinsider.com/olympian-mikaela-shiffrin-naps-importance-of-rest-and-recovery-2018-2 under the headline, “Olympian Mikaela Shiffrin, the top slalom skier in the world, is insanely dedicated to napping — and it could help explain why she’s so successful”
Unfortunately, Loria didn’t include information on the kind of mattress Mikaela sleeps on, but the story was still very interesting and engaging – even if you’re not a fan of winter skiing.
“Shiffrin gets an average of nine hours of sleep every night. Yet she wakes up excited to go back to sleep,” Loria reported.
“[T]he first thought I’ll have [upon waking up] is: I cannot wait for my nap today. I don’t care what else happens. I can’t wait to get back in bed,” Shiffrin told Elizabeth Weil, who Loria explains profiled the skiing star for Outside Magazine.
Drawing on information from a profile of the athlete by the New Yorker’s Nick Paumgarten, Loria tells us that Shiffrin naps at least an hour a day. “Shiffrin even dozes in the snow while waiting for the start of a race or to hear the results come in,” he says.
Of course, dozing in the snow doesn’t equate to quality, restorative sleep. For that you need a quality mattress – and here at Natural Sleep Mattress, we’re willing to bet that when she’s at home, Mikaela sleeps on an exceptional mattress and that she took her time to make sure she was getting the best mattress for her particular needs.
If we had to guess, we’d say that Mikaela sleeps on a one-sided mattress, which we feel is a much better investment than the old two-sided mattresses. Maybe she sleeps on a Pure Latex Bliss or Pure Talalay Bliss mattress. It would be a good choice because Talalay Latex mattresses form to your body to give you support where you need it.
Mikaela would definitely be interested in a mattress that was made without the chemicals and harmful substances that could pose a health risk. Pure Talalay Bliss uses Oeko-Tex class I certified Talalay and fabrics in all of our products. Very few foam producers in the world meet the standards of this independent, third-party certification.
A Hastens mattress would be another excellent option for Mikaela. Hästens beds are packed with sleep innovations, including the way they construct their frames. They are true craftsmen with a design philosophy that is progressive and always evolving. And, like all the mattresses we carry at Natural Sleep Mattress, the Hastens Auroria, Hastens Vividus, Hastens Luxuria and other Hastens mattresses are natural organic mattresses.
